The story of the Shimano Sahara reel continues this year with the introduction of the Sahara FJ series. Designed for both beginner and experienced anglers, the Sahara series incorporates HAGANE Gear for enhanced durability along with the refinement of Silent Drive technology for smoother retrieval performance. X-Ship technology provides additional protection for the entire assembly during battles with larger fish. Compared to the previous generation, the new Sahara FJ is lighter and features a completely redesigned body and rotor. The Sahara FJ comes with a screw-in handle and an anti-reverse switch, offering anglers high performance for extended use periods.

The X-SHIP system provides improved durability to the pinion gear while eliminating rotor twisting and flexing. By supporting the pinion on both ends with bearings, it maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means that the gears stay in position under the heaviest loads. G Free Body is an innovative technology that repositions the center of gravity closer to the spool, reducing hand fatigue during fishing. SilentDrive is a system that tightens gear tolerances to micron levels to reduce noise and unnecessary vibrations for enhanced winding performance.

Hagane Gear technology contributes to the smooth and precise operation of the internal gears. No cutting operations are applied to the drive gear teeth. Instead, the entire surface is meticulously calculated through a special 3D design and then forged using Shimano’s patented cold forging technology. The most prominent feature of the Propulsion Line Management System is the new spool design. Based on extensive casting tests and computer simulations, Shimano experts have determined that this new spool design offers longer casting distances compared to standard spool designs while preventing unwanted slack or loops.
