Groundbait sieve

The bait sieve is an important accessory in preparing bait. After adding water to the dry mix, some areas of the bait will invariably retain more water while others will be drier. The wetter areas tend to clump together, forming lumps. If these clumps reach the fishing spot, they can saturate a fish that swallows them in one gulp, which means that in some situations our chances of the fish being interested in the offering on our hook decrease. Thus, sieving helps eliminate this potential issue by distributing moisture as evenly and homogeneously as possible and aerating the mixture. All of this leads to a more uniform spread of the bait on the substrate or in the water column and to achieving good bait mechanics.
Bait sieves are made from metal materials, come in various diameters or sizes, and are generally designed to fit certain sizes of bait buckets. The mesh holes come in different sizes to allow for finer or coarser sieving of the bait, depending on the preferences of the anglers.
