Leader Lines for Predatory Fish

The leaders used in fishing for predatory fish serve to prevent line cuts and loss of lures or hooks, and are made of strong yet flexible materials, used to attach the lure or hook to the main line. Therefore, leaders are utilized both when fishing with lures and when using natural baits. 

Using leaders can also be practical when unhooking caught fish. Most often, leaders are created by braiding several fibers from various materials ranging from metal to fluorocarbon, or modern materials like Kevlar or carbon, and their lengths can vary depending on the target fish.
