Grub

Grub

A grub is a soft, flexible plastic lure with a conical or cylindrical shape, resembling a worm or a comma. Typically, grubs are used in conjunction with jigs, but there are exceptions, such as when they are used to rig other lures (chatterbaits), as trailers, or when used with offset hooks.

At first glance, the grub is one of the simplest fishing baits ever invented. It has practically established jigging as a universal spinning technique. It can be used for targeting predators in both freshwater and saltwater, and often, even peaceful fish can be attracted to these lures.

A grub can mimic a variety of prey in the water, ranging from larvae, worms, leeches, small fish, tadpoles, nymphs, and even crayfish. Grubs thus come in a wide range of colors, sizes, and shapes, from the smallest to the largest, usually featuring a simple or dual, vibrating tail that is long in relation to the body length.
