The use of antiseptic solutions for the care of freshwater fish that we wish to release is a recent concept that is becoming increasingly popular due to its effectiveness. Primarily used in carp fishing, antiseptics are rapidly becoming the modern standard, not just for waters where catch and release fishing is practiced but also for natural waters when we want to release captured fish back to ensure the best fishing conditions in the future.

Antiseptic solutions contain antibacterial and antifungal ingredients and are capable of easily penetrating affected areas, reducing infections and aiding the natural healing process of fish. They are useful for both hook wounds during the fight and for damaged scales, as well as injuries on the fish's body that may occur especially after the cold season and spawning period. There are multiple types of containers available for the delivery of antiseptic solutions, ranging from spray or aerosol types to those equipped with droppers.
