The design and cutting-edge features make the DF115B engine the most advanced outboard motor available. Launched as the successor to the DF115A generation, it includes new technologies and systems such as an offset driveshaft, which allows the manufacturer to create smaller outboards by shifting the center of gravity forward, improving weight distribution, output power, balance, and vibration reduction. The self-adjusting timing chain operates in an oil bath, requiring no additional lubrication and is fitted with an automatic hydraulic tensioner; the biggest advantage of this system is greater reliability compared to belt drives in the same class. The water-in-fuel detection system helps protect the engine by using a fuel filter with an integrated sensor that alerts the operator with visual and audible warnings when water is present in the fuel.

Technologies used in this range include sequential digital electronic fuel injection, an impressive 2.59:1 gear ratio, a propeller shaft, and an improved compression ratio of 10.6:1. Suzuki DF115B outboards are designed with proven torsion bar technology and crankshaft displacement, which together place this engine at the top of its class in terms of weight and overall dimensions. The Lean Burn system (providing the optimal air-fuel mixture depending on navigation conditions) and Battery-Less Electronic Fuel Injection (offering remarkable fuel consumption improvements while maintaining high power and performance levels) are also featured on these engines.

This motor showcases Suzuki specialists' determination to bring the benefits of advanced and efficient technology into a compact, lightweight 4-stroke engine. Performance is guaranteed by a DOHC 2045cc displacement motor that ensures low fuel consumption. Thanks to its large displacement and reduced weight, the DF115B delivers excellent running performance while meeting even the strictest emission standards. The engine produces ample power for all medium-sized boats.

Equipped with the Suzuki Easy Start system, engine starting is effortless. The DF115B starter will continue to turn automatically until the engine starts, but no longer than 4 seconds. To ensure smooth and safe starts, more efficient combustion, and fuel economy, the system is also equipped with control elements for the engine’s cylinders, injectors, and ignition. Salt deposits, sand, and dirt in the cooling system can cause engine failure. For easy engine flushing, the mount includes two flushing ports. One is located on the side, providing easy access and convenient flushing whether the boat is in the water or on land. The new motor tilt limiter prevents damage to the engine cowling and/or boat transom at maximum tilt angles. The tilt limiter and tilt angle sensor are integrated into a single unit.

The engine is protected from corrosion by a special finish developed by Suzuki’s team of specialists (Anti Corrosion System). Applied directly to the aluminum surface, it maximizes the bond between the coating and surface, enhancing protection and durability of parts constantly exposed to water. This version is equipped with Suzuki Precision Control (Drive-by-Wire), which electronically controls throttle and gear shifts, unlike standard models with traditional mechanical (cable) control.

NOTE: Under-powering a boat should be avoided, as the engine will run at higher revs, leading to premature wear and increased fuel consumption. Over-powering a boat can cause handling difficulties and very high operating costs (consumables, parts, etc.).
