The Canyon XR is a versatile "all-round" reel with a 4.6:1 gear ratio, suited to provide sufficient power for a wide range of applications. The reel features an intelligent oscillation system (S-Curve Oscilation) designed to align the spool parallel, which is crucial for longer and more accurate casts. The lightweight graphite body ensures strength and durability, effectively protecting the bearings and gears from corrosion and dirt entering the interior. The aluminum spool results in less friction during casting, improving casting distances.

This reel comes equipped with a baitrunner system, which is essentially a special brake located at the rear of the reel body, allowing the fish to take line after getting hooked. The baitrunner features two adjustments: a lever that manually activates or deactivates this brake and a knob through which the angler can adjust the force and resistance the fish experiences when taking line.
