The new Twin Power SW was designed based on the knowledge and experience of Shimano Big Game, combining unmatched engineering into a single reel. It features many of the characteristics found in the Stella SW, considered by many anglers one of the most advanced reels available. Twin Power SW has the power needed to handle the most demanding fights with large fish, while maintaining a modern design. The combination of Hagane Gear, X-Ship, and Silent Drive technologies offers high performance in casting. X-Shield and X-Protect provide excellent corrosion protection and ensure the entire assembly is shielded against the harsh elements of a saltwater environment, allowing the angler to continue fishing with confidence.

The X-SHIP system enhances pinion durability while eliminating rotor twisting and flexing. By supporting the pinion on both ends with bearings, it maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears remain in the same position under heavy loads. An additional benefit is the elimination of friction between the spool and gears. This further boosts the reel’s casting performance with lighter lures or weights. Hagane Gear provides incredible strength and durability, contributing to the smooth and precise operation of the internal gears.

INFINITY DRIVE is a new technology that eliminates drag resistance and ensures smooth spool rotation both under load and free-spooling. INFINITY DRIVE is a contactless design where the inside of the pinion does not touch the main shaft. This reduced sliding resistance is achieved by applying a special low-friction bushing that supports the main shaft. The handle's rotational torque is reduced by approximately 30%* compared to the conventional X-SHIP design.

During braking, heat generated in the drag system reduces braking force and increases spool temperature, which can damage the line. The conventional X TOUGH drag system greatly improves both drag performance and durability with a revolutionary design where the drag mechanism is located at the bottom of the spool. Shimano HEATSINK DRAG is the evolution of the X TOUGH Drag system and effectively manages heat in two ways. First, heat is released through a special panel on the bottom of the spool, resulting in 50% more braking power. Second, it features insulation between the drag mechanism and the spool surface, resulting in a 30% lower spool temperature.
