A pilker is a heavy metal lure designed for deep-water fishing, often painted in fluorescent colors that can transmit a visual signal even in low-light conditions.

The technique for animating these lures involves casting and allowing the lure to reach the bottom, followed by the classic "sawtooth" retrieval. Due to their heavy weight relative to their body size, pilkers can be cast over considerable distances, as well as make accurate casts in windy conditions. The predominant target species when using these lures are perch, zander, pike, and catfish. Some models are especially effective for saltwater fishing.
