The bold Pro XS graphics on the cowling promise performance. Under that cover sits the dynamic 2.1-liter Mercury 115 FourStroke engine. Additional performance is achieved by increasing the top end of the wide-open throttle rpm range from 6000 to 6300 rpm. David Foulkes, Mercury's Vice President of Engineering and Brunswick Corporation’s Chief Technology Officer, reminds us of simple performance math: “Horsepower is the result of multiplying torque by rpm,” said Foulkes. “As long as the torque curve keeps rising, if we add rpm, we get more power. And the 2.1-liter engine produces a lot of torque.”

The 115 Pro XS is compatible with a full suite of Mercury SmartCraft features, including the Engine Guardian operator warning system and the new VesselView Mobile, which uses an available Bluetooth module to transmit maintenance reminders, performance data, and diagnostic information directly to a smartphone or tablet. Anglers running a lot of electronics will appreciate Idle Charge, an electronic control that monitors battery voltage and increases engine rpm to boost alternator charging power by up to 48% at idle.
