The long cast hexagonal lead is primarily used with helicopter rigs or lost lead rigs. Its shape ensures excellent aerodynamics and also reduces lead rotation both during casting and retrieval. The aerodynamic shape also provides extra stability in rotation when the lead is in a current or on ledges, keeping the rig in place where it was cast, preventing the hook from snagging as the lead moves along the substrate.
