Helix 9 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N is a state-of-the-art sonar featuring the Chirp Dual Spectrum function, which enhances differentiation between two targets, such as objects and fish. This allows for much better fish identification on the substrate. Side imaging and Down Imaging can now be viewed in maximum detail due to dramatically improved resolution quality. The presentation quality is almost photorealistic thanks to the high-resolution display. The SwitchFire and Time Variable Gain (TVG) functions ensure that fish sizes are displayed on the screen at various depths in predictable true-to-scale sizes. With a little practice, the target fish size should be approximately determined.

MEGA Imaging delivers photorealistic images with unparalleled quality. This is possible thanks to high transmission frequencies. Instead of 455 kHz used in older models, signals are sent and received at 1.2 MHz frequency. This is achieved with the new HDSI encoder. The resolution and clarity are three times higher than classic SI, allowing for recognition of fish contours and fins. The Helix MEGA SI+ GPS G4N sonar also provides true side and downward signals, along with SwitchFire in SI.

For MEGA Side Imaging, you have a range of about 40m on each side of the boat. You can enlarge the scan, even if the object is 20m from the boat. You can even mark fish and other fishing spots far from the boat as reference points! This technology is so effective that you can gather more information about fish and bottom structures in just a few minutes.

Equipped with a broadband 2D sonar, it can capture super clear and detailed images. Even a small school of fish can be individually separated, and a hidden predator can be identified in the image. True broadband signal performance is fundamentally different from the pseudo-signals of many other sonars. Most importantly, you can set the start and end frequencies of each signal.

Want to create your own map no matter where you fish? With Humminbird’s AutoChart Live feature, live mapping is possible not only with Garmin. It automatically determines bottom hardness and vegetation, which can be overlaid with selectable transparency freely via Navionics electronic nautical charts. All Helix CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N sonars come with this clever feature. You can record up to 8 hours with the available depth sonar—a sort of trial subscription. For longer recordings, you need the optional Zero Line SD card, which extends the device’s internal memory for several years of navigation. The Zero Line SD card is also included in the complete PC AutoChart PC and AutoChart PC Pro versions.

The sonar has a built-in Bluetooth interface. While you cannot control the sonar remotely (an optional RC-2 remote control is available), you can pair it with your smartphone to view calls, text messages, signal strength, and battery status. This is useful if you want to protect your smartphone from water. An optional Bluetooth remote allows you to operate your sonar from any angle of the boat. You can set waypoints, map routes, adjust sensitivity, or switch between favorite views at the press of a button. The remote is fully programmable—you can assign any function to any button: power on/off, activate the 360 image transmitter, or save an i-Pilot LINK Spot-Lock anchoring function to keep the fishing boat in place regardless of weather conditions.

The Humminbird Helix 9 CHIRP G4N series is network-capable thanks to the built-in Ethernet system. This lets you connect multiple devices in a network, share waypoints, and much more. Via Ethernet, you can cleverly switch between different encoders—for example, a Minn Kota US2 sonar or a Humminbird 360 imaging encoder, which can then be shared with all sonars on the network if you wish.

Humminbird Helix sonars are compatible with the Humminbird autopilot system. This system takes control of the boat and maintains course even in wind and waves. You can take the shortest direct route to your destination or a special route, both configured within seconds. The autopilot system is not only comfortable and safe but also helps save fuel.

The NMEA 2000 port enables external data transfer directly to the sonar. Such data can come from very different devices. For example, data from the boat engine such as tank capacity, fuel consumption, current speed, or even weather data from external modules is possible.
