Humminbird Helix 8 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N Sonar

The Helix 8 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N is a state-of-the-art sonar featuring Dual Spectrum Chirp technology, enabling enhanced differentiation between two targets, such as objects and fish. This allows for much better identification of fish on the substrate. The side imaging and Down Imaging can now be viewed in maximum detail, as the resolution quality has dramatically improved. The presentation quality is nearly photorealistic, thanks to the high-resolution display. The SwitchFire and Time Variable Gain (TVG) functions ensure that fish sizes are displayed on the screen at different depths in predictable real sizes. With a little practice, the size of target fish should be approximately established.

MEGA Imaging can provide photorealistic images at unmatched quality. This is possible due to the high transmission frequencies. Instead of 455 kHz like older models, a signal is sent and received at a frequency of 1.2 MHz. This is achievable with the new HDSI encoder. The resolution and clarity are three times greater than classic SI, allowing for the recognition of fish contours and fins. The Helix MEGA SI + (plus) GPS G4N sonar also features a real lateral and downward signal, as well as SwitchFire in SI.

For MEGA Side Imaging, you have a range of approximately 40m on each side of the boat. You can zoom in on the scan, even if the object is 20m away from the boat. You can even mark fish and other fishing spots that are far from the boat as reference points! This technology is so effective that you can gather more information about fish and substrate structures in just a few minutes.

Equipped with a wideband 2D sonar, the sonar can capture super clear and detailed images. Even a tight school of fish can be individually distinguished, and a hidden predator can be identified in the image. The true wideband signal is fundamentally different in performance from the pseudo-signal of many other transducers. Most importantly, you can set the start and end frequencies of each signal.

Want to create your own map, regardless of where you fish? With Humminbird's AutoChart Live feature, live mapping is possible. It automatically determines the hardness and vegetation of the substrate, and it can be covered with freely selectable transparency through Navionics electronic nautical charts. All Helix GPS G4N CHIRP MEGA SI + (plus) sonars have this ingenious feature. You have up to 8 hours of recording available with the depth transducer - a sort of trial subscription. For longer recordings, you need the additional Zero Line SD card, which extends the device's internal memory for several years of navigation. Moreover, the Zero Line SD card is also included in the two complete versions of PC AutoChart PC and AutoChart PC Pro.

The sonar has an integrated Bluetooth interface. With this, the sonar cannot be remotely controlled (there is an optional RC-2 remote control), but you can pair your smartphone to view calls, text messages, signal strength, and battery status. This is useful if you want to keep your smartphone dry. An optional Bluetooth remote allows you to use your sonar from any angle of the boat. You can set waypoints, adjust sensitivity, or switch between preferred views at the push of a button. The remote is fully programmable - you can assign any function to any button: turn on or off, trigger the 360 image transmitter, or save an i-Pilot LINK Spot-Lock anchoring function to keep the fishing boat in place regardless of weather conditions.

The Humminbird Helix 8 CHIRP G4N series is network-connectable due to its built-in Ethernet system. This allows you to connect multiple devices in the network, sharing waypoints and many other data. Through Ethernet, you can cleverly choose between different encoders - e.g., a Minn Kota US2 sonar or a Humminbird 360 imaging encoder, which can then be made available to all sonars in the network if desired.

Humminbird Helix sonars are compatible with the Humminbird autopilot system. This takes control of the boat and keeps its course even in wind and waves. You can take the shortest direct route to your destination as well as a special route, both set in just a few seconds. The autopilot system is not only comfortable and safe but also helps save fuel.

The NMEA 2000 port allows for the transfer of external data directly to the sonar. Such data can come from very different devices. For example, data from the boat's engine, such as tank capacity, fuel consumption, or current speed, or even weather data from external modules.
