The Mx 14000 Plus reel is designed based on the criteria of competitive carp fishing. This model features high-quality mechanisms that ensure performance in use and reliability. The Mx 14000 Plus is equipped with 8+1 bearings and a DDBG system, characterized by the presence of an additional bearing on the small pinion, which plays a major role in the reel’s reliability. This last bearing, positioned between the small pinion and the housing, greatly improves the gear system, since in that area the small pinion shaft normally runs directly on the plastic housing under pressure from the large pinion. As the plastic wears out, the angle between the pinions changes, which is the source of reel noise over time. Also, the small pinion no longer presses on the reel shaft, resulting in much smoother operation and reducing wear caused by the shaft’s movement.

The model features a cold-pressed pinion to strengthen the contact surface, anodized for oxidation resistance, equipped with a threaded stainless steel shaft for firm, fast, and play-free handle attachment. The spool is made using the same cold-pressing method to achieve maximum material hardness and allow weight reduction by thinning it. This resulted in a spool that is highly resistant to impacts, does not dent from light touches (unlike untreated aluminum), and weighs only 100g. The reel is fitted with a thick stainless steel shaft, 6mm in diameter.
The braking system is made of carbontex, a more expensive but far superior material when a finely adjustable brake is required, especially for thin lines. Another very important technical aspect for the reel’s long-lasting functionality is the placement of the wormshaft system at the bottom of the housing. Thus, grease accumulating in this area is picked up by the sliding part of the wormshaft system and pushed toward the gears and reel shaft, ensuring continuous lubrication throughout the mechanical system.

The Slow Oscillation 60 system ensures perfect line lay, which favors long-distance casting, reduces reel vibrations, and lowers wear between the shaft and the surface it slides on. The system achieves 60 rotations (line wraps) per full spool rotation. The Hakuyo Mx 14000 Plus introduced the innovation of laying a tapered line on an 80mm spool, a feature unseen on other models. The wormshaft design achieves a perfectly straight tapered line load on the spool, leaving a difference of 2-3mm at the top of the spool and bringing the line to spool level at the base.

The reel is equipped with a rotor locking system in the optimal casting position when the pick-up is lifted. This eliminates any play in the reel during casting. From this position, the pick-up can be engaged manually, similar to reels with a trigger arm. The system protects the gears because the pick-up is not triggered by handle rotation—a maneuver that causes small local stresses on the pinion, making the reel noisy over time. Manual engagement also protects all components. The pick-up can also be engaged automatically by turning the handle, but this is only possible if the anti-reverse is disengaged. In this case, the rotor no longer locks during casting.

The light weight of only 570g is the main advantage of this reel, as it allows long-distance casts and reduces rod wobble after casting. It also provides comfort during use, especially in long-distance or competition fishing, where fighting or simply retrieving the rig can take considerable time.

NOTE: The reel comes equipped with a shallower 14000 spool. It is possible to purchase separately the deeper 10000 spool.
