Hakuyo MT 14000 Spod&Marker Reel

The MT 14000 Spod&Marker reel retains the qualities of the base MT 14000 PLUS model, the only difference being a higher retrieve speed needed for spod reels. In this sense, the MT 14000 Spod&Marker features a retrieve ratio of 5.3:1, generating a line retrieve of 132cm per crank turn. The reel has 8+1 bearings and a DDBG system, characterized by an additional bearing on the small pinion of the new model, allowing the gear to roll on both axles with two bearings each.

This last bearing mounted externally on the housing is a major upgrade to the gear, because in that area, the small pinion axle ran directly on the plastic housing and on the reel axle, under pressure from the large pinion. As the plastic wears out, the angle between the pinions changes, which causes the reel’s noise over time. At the same time, the small pinion no longer presses on the reel axle, resulting in a much smoother movement and implicitly reduced wear caused by the axle’s translation.

NOTE: The reel comes equipped with a shallower spool for the 14000 size. It is possible to purchase the deeper 10000 spool separately.
