The GMR 1236 xHD3 is an open-array radar designed for consistent target detection and clear display at all ranges. Scan averaging reduces sea clutter and interference, while angular target size adjustment optimizes object contours on the screen for easy interpretation.

The 100kt-rated open-array antennas support rotation speeds of 24/48rpm, providing fast image refresh rates. The narrow horizontal beam and antenna gain help separate targets at long distances, and the 4kW version ensures a maximum range of 96nm and a minimum range of 20m (with compatible overlay sensors, sold separately).

True Echo Trails display the historic track of vessels, eliminating the effects of relative movement to identify moving targets and collision hazards. Dual Range with Overlay mode allows two independent ranges to be shown side by side or overlaid on compatible charts. Dual-Radar support adds redundancy, and MARPA, Guard Zone, and VRM/EBL indicators assist with quick distance and bearing measurements.
