The Garmin GMR 18 xHD3 is a 4kW magnetron radar dome designed to deliver high performance in navigation and fishing. It ensures clear target detection and allows adjustment of their size on the screen, with an operating range from 20m to 48NM. The scan-averaging technology reduces interference and noise, enhancing the visibility of consistent objects, while the angular target-size adjustment optimizes target outlines on the display. The True Echo Trails mode displays the historical track of vessels, facilitating moving target identification and collision avoidance.

The radar features an intuitive, easy-to-use interface and supports split-screen display with independent ranges on compatible chartplotters. It supports Dual-Radar mode for redundancy and independence between signal sources. Integrated functions such as Dynamic Auto Gain, Dynamic Sea Filter, Radar Overlay, Auto Bird Gain, MARPA with automatic target acquisition, and guard zones contribute to safe navigation and precise VRM/EBL measurements.
