Daiwa Emblem Surf 45 SCW QD Type-R Reel

The Emblem Surf 45 SCW QD Type-R is the result of field research conducted by Team Daiwa on the coasts of the Iberian Peninsula. Listening to the best surfcasting anglers, Daiwa engineers designed the reel best suited to their needs, while focusing on achieving the longest possible casting distances. It is water-resistant thanks to Daiwa MagSealed seals. To handle all possible situations, the reel comes with two additional spools (one shallow type and one deep type finished in silver), making three spools in total including the main one. Sometimes, it’s better to choose a line strong enough to handle tough conditions (storms, waves, strong currents, or rocky areas). However, in good weather conditions, when you need to bring the fish from very far away, it’s better to opt for a fine or very fine nylon line.

The reel body is made from DS4 polycarbonate, and the rotor from DS5 polycarbonate for greater durability without sacrificing weight. The foldable aluminum handle ends with a Drag Knob that fits perfectly in the palm. The HIP line clip with a spring is very useful when baiting a fixed spot precisely. To improve casting distance, surfcasting specialists use nylon with a very small diameter, often less than 0.20mm. The new Emblem Type-R has a capacity of 300m of monofilament line with a diameter of 0.18mm. This spool format limits the risk of accidental tangles. To enhance fishing performance, Daiwa developed a new oscillation system that reduces line loops and improves how the line is laid on the spool. Thanks to the slow cross-lay, the line leaves the spool perfectly during casting, allowing for longer distances. This is a key point for thin, more fragile lines.

MagSealed Technology - Sealing the rotor is a challenge that Daiwa was able to meet in 2010 and has optimized every year since. To seal the rotor inside the body, the seal is made from a magnetic oil called MagSealed. This oil is frozen in a magnetic field and prevents water and dust from entering the mechanism. The LT structure is made from a single piece, without welding or flanges, offering high resistance. This is why MagSealed is additionally positioned on both the pinion and the pick-up, providing corrosion resistance against water.

Air Rotor® - The curved rotor (15% lighter than the majority of standard models) offers perfect winding of the line on the spool and eliminates vibrations thanks to a lowered center of gravity.

AirBail® - The pick-up arm is hollow, made from SUS303 steel, and is 20% stronger than a solid titanium arm of the same weight. Its lifespan is 13 times longer and the special construction prevents line twisting around the pick-up wire.

ABS II (Anti-Backlash System) - Unlike classic cylindrical spool models, ABS spools are tapered to reduce the risk of tangles during casts. Additionally, the specially designed lip reduces friction with the line to increase casting distance. The new ABS II design is optimized to help you reach record distances when casting.

CRBB - High-quality corrosion-resistant ball bearings with a lifespan 10 times longer than standard bearings.

Quick Drag - The name reveals the secret of this ultra-fast drag. Switching from free spool to tight drag happens in half a turn of the drag knob. Adjustments are instantaneous after casting or during the fight.

DigiGear II® - a digitally developed gear with larger helical teeth designed to withstand high traction forces. The pinion housed in the spool body transmits crank power directly to the rotor smoothly and very efficiently. The size of the drive gear, its strength and gear angles, as well as the shape and surface of the teeth, allow the construction of gearboxes with exceptional smoothness, minimal resistance during use, and extremely long service life.

Slow Cross Wrap (SCW)® - Technology that provides the reel with slow recovery of the oscillation. The coils are perfectly stored on the spool, optimizing long-distance casts.

Double Oscillation® - Double oscillation ensures optimal stretching of the fishing line without slipping. The line laying on the spool is optimized to keep the risk of tangles to an absolute minimum.

Twist Buster® II - A sophisticated system (patent no. EP0876760B1) that reduces line twisting by up to 90%. The latest Twist Buster II significantly reduces friction between the line and the roller, preventing line breakage.

Infinite Anti-Reverse® - The new Infinite Anti-Reverse system is activated with four times less force than a classic system. It takes less than 2G to engage the Real Stopper system, which eliminates any handle movement, taking sensitivity to the next level.

Engine Plate - Side plates on both sides of the body protect the internal mechanisms and increase the reel’s lifespan.
