Leadcore
Leadcore is, as its name suggests, a braided line with a lead core, thus an assembly made of a woven braided membrane on the outside and an inner lead line. Modern versions use tungsten or alloys that are not harmful to the aquatic environment, having a weight and malleability similar to lead. The main uses of leadcore relate to its specific weight, which helps sink the main line and secure the last section, the one near the rig and hook, as close to the substrate as possible. Additionally, leadcore lines are quite supple; considering they have a lead core, they possess excellent abrasion resistance and are very easy to work with for creating various specific rigs.
The braided material that covers the leadcore line can come in various colors, allowing the angler to choose the option that offers the best camouflage depending on the substrate of the waters they are fishing in. Some leadcore models also have an additional special surface treatment designed to compact the braided membrane and thus increase its durability.
