They tighten using a steel cable coated in plastic, which runs through the boot's eyelets and wraps around a dial when turned. The BOA system provides a secure fit that is evenly distributed across the entire foot. Another advantage of this tightening system is that once tightened, the lace does not loosen throughout the day.

The exterior of the boots is covered with TPU for durability and waterproofing, while the toe and heel have rubber reinforcements for additional protection against submerged obstacles.
