The Simms company was founded in 1980 by a visionary angler and longtime guide, John Simms. After spending decades providing customers with life-changing experiences on the world’s most majestic rivers, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time didn’t meet the needs of keeping top anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get on the water earlier and stay out longer in any weather.

Every angler has been caught off guard by unexpected weather changes, and the new GORE-TEX Bulkley Jacket provides the perfect solution for these situations. Offering the best waterproof and breathable technology, it protects you effectively even in the harshest weather conditions. With a two-layer fabric composition and PrimaLoft® Silver thermal lining, it retains body heat and efficiently wicks away sweat. Simms specialists have crafted a durable outer material designed to be lightweight, so you don’t lose freedom of movement (a feature appreciated by competitive anglers). It features two side pockets, high chin protection, and adjustable drawcords; the interior pockets are made from soft material, and the front zipper is durable and resistant to repeated use.

The ultra-thin ePTFE membrane forms the base of GORE-TEX fabrics, making it waterproof, windproof, and breathable. One square centimeter of the membrane contains over 9 billion pores. Interestingly, these pores are actually 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water but 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule. This is what makes the GORE-TEX membrane waterproof while allowing sweat to escape from inside. All GORE-TEX membranes, except GORE-TEX Pro, have a very thin oleophobic polyurethane layer inside. Unlike all other GORE-TEX membranes, GORE-TEX Pro uses a 100% ePTFE membrane with two thin laminated layers, layered over a very thin ePTFE strip with a different microstructure instead of the PU layer, providing 28% more breathability.
