The Shimano Twin Power reel series has a 30-year history since its launch on the market. For 2020, the newly released model is equipped with a metal rotor that embodies the Coresolid philosophy (quality and strength). This feature has been designed for several years, aimed at eliminating distortion and twisting under load of the spool body. The metal body made from Hagane alloy provides rigidity and durability to the frame while giving it a lightweight feel and incredible long-term strength. To enhance casting performance, the new Long Stroke Spool design has been integrated into the Twin Power series.

In addition to the top technologies found in previous versions (X-Ship, Aero Wrap II, Dyna Balance, etc.), the Japanese manufacturer has introduced new concepts such as X-Protect (water resistance and corrosion protection), G Free Body (repositioning the center of gravity closer to the rod to reduce fatigue while fishing), and Rigid Support Drag (a special support that prevents spool vibration under heavy drag). The Twin Power FD features MicroModule Gear II technology for smooth operation, while the Silent Drive technology eliminates noise and vibrations along the spool through a complete redesign of mechanical parts at micro-tolerance levels.
