Okuma is currently one of the leading manufacturers of high-performance reels, with a tradition and innovation capacity that have earned it worldwide renown. The Custom Spod is a reel specially designed for baiting with heavy spombs at considerable distances. The reel is built around a robust graphite body, corrosion-resistant, with internal mechanisms powered by 3 sealed bearings that ensure smooth operation, reducing arm fatigue from repeated casting. The Cyclonic Flow Rotor (CFR) is designed to create a "cyclonic" airflow, significantly increasing airflow through the rotor. This carefully tested design allows for much faster drying if the reel gets wet, minimizing the possibility of corrosion on its exterior. The CFR system also creates a lighter and stiffer rotor, which reduces flex and rotation consistency and results in more precise mechanical operation.

The CNC-machined one-piece anodized aluminum spool is equipped with two round metal line clips for precise marking of baiting and water probing zones. The 4.8:1 gear ratio allows for retrieving no less than 107cm of line per full crank turn, and the "Even Flow Roller System II" technology reduces line twist by freely rolling the XXL roller without friction, thus preventing line breakage. The unidirectional Quick-Set Anti-Reverse system, Worm Shaft drive system, and computer-balanced rotor system (Rotor Equalizing System) round out the reel’s top-tier features. The metal handle is fitted with an extremely comfortable soft ABS knob.
