The Simms company was founded in 1980 by a visionary angler and longtime guide John Simms. After spending decades providing clients with life-changing experiences on the world's most majestic rivers, John realized that the waterproof gear available at that time did not meet the needs to keep the best anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get out on the water earlier and stay out longer in any weather.

The Simms SunGaiter is a bandana made from a special material enhanced with the latest SolarFlex® fabric technology, making it stretch in multiple directions. It has no seams that irritate the skin and offers excellent breathability and moisture control. Made from lightweight, quick-drying stretch fabric, it features laser-cut breath holes. The SolarFlex® fabric provides UPF 50 protection and covers from the tip of the nose to the collar of the shirt, with enough height at the back to fit over or under your favorite fishing hat.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All of Simms' UPF finishes last the lifetime of the garment.
