The Simms company was founded in 1980 by visionary angler and longtime guide John Simms. After spending decades providing customers with life-changing experiences on the world's most majestic rivers, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time did not meet the needs of keeping the best anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get on the water earlier and stay out longer, no matter the weather.

The Simms SunGaiter is a bandana made from a special fabric enhanced with the latest SolarFlex® weaving technology, allowing it to stretch in multiple directions. It has no seams that irritate the skin and offers excellent breathability and moisture control. Made from lightweight, quick-drying stretch fabric, it features laser-cut ventilation holes. The SolarFlex® fabric provides UPF 50 protection and covers from the bridge of the nose down to the shirt collar, with enough height at the back to fit over or under your favorite fishing hat. Additionally, Coolcore® technology can lower the surface temperature by up to 30% when wet.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much UV radiation from the sun is blocked. A fabric with a rating of 50 will only allow 1/50 of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All Simms UPF finishes last the lifetime of the garment.
