The Simms company was founded in 1980 by a visionary angler and longtime guide John Simms. After spending decades providing clients with life-changing experiences on the most majestic rivers in the world, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time did not meet the needs to keep the best anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get on the water earlier and stay out longer in any weather.

The G3 Guide is part of Simms' portfolio, crafted from three layers of GORE-TEX, which means waterproofing is a key feature. Simms designed this jacket with four pockets: two located on the upper sides and two front chest pockets, one of which includes a retractable system with a clip. Other notable features include elastic cuffs that ensure water doesn't seep inside, water-resistant YKK zippers, and a waterproof hood.
