Simms was founded in 1980 by a visionary angler and long-time guide John Simms. After spending decades providing life-changing experiences on the world’s most majestic rivers, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time didn’t meet the needs of keeping the best anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get on the water earlier and stay out longer, no matter the weather.

It is made from 92% polyester and 8% spandex. The fabric is designed to provide sun protection, be comfortable and stretchy, dry quickly, and resist odors thanks to HeiQ Fresh and HeiQ Stain Away technologies. Additionally, it features Insect Shield, offering long-lasting and effective protection against insects. The hood is knit and has a center front closure with a ring for a secure fit. It also has extended sleeve length with thumbholes and a loop for the middle finger.

When the blazing sun threatens to cut a fishing afternoon short, the Simms SolarFlex® Hoody is the perfect solution. It offers enhanced comfort on hot days (thanks to UPF50 sun protection). UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much UV radiation from the sun is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 allows only 1/50th of the sun’s UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All UPF finishes from Simms last throughout the garment's lifetime.
