The Shimano Sahara RD is a rear-drag reel designed for coarse, match, feeder and spinning fishing, offering a combination of smooth operation, durable construction and effective line control. The model features Shimano's Fightin' Drag system, which allows you to quickly adjust the drag during a fight, making it useful when battling powerful fish. The mechanism is fitted with 3+1 bearings, including three shielded stainless steel ball bearings that contribute to smooth retrieval and stable performance.

The cold-forged aluminium spool features Shimano AR-C Spool technology, with a specially profiled lip that helps line flow freely, contributing to accurate, long-distance casts. The Varispeed II system optimises line lay on the spool, reducing the risk of line becoming trapped between lower layers under heavy strain. This design allows the reel to be used effectively with both fine monofilament and braided lines.

The rear-mounted multi-disc drag system allows progressive adjustment of drag pressure, while Fightin' Drag technology lets you make quick adjustments using a dedicated lever without interrupting the fight. The single handle provides a comfortable grip and efficiently transfers power to the mechanism. The reel comes with a spare cold-forged aluminium spool, allowing you to use different lines to suit your fishing technique.
