The story of the Shimano Sahara reel continues this year with the introduction of the Sahara FJ series. Designed for both beginner and experienced anglers, the Sahara series incorporates HAGANE Gear for enhanced durability along with the refined Silent Drive technology for smoother retrieval performance. X-Ship technology provides additional protection to the entire assembly during battles with larger fish. Compared to the previous generation, the new Sahara FJ is lighter and features a completely redesigned body and rotor. Sahara FJ comes with a "screw-in" handle and an anti-reverse switch, offering anglers high performance for long periods of use.

The X-SHIP system provides improved durability to the pinion, while eliminating rotor twisting and flexing. By supporting the pinion shaft on both ends with bearings, it maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears remain in the same position under the heaviest loads. G Free Body is an innovative technology that repositions the center of gravity closer to the spool, reducing hand fatigue during fishing. SilentDrive is a system that increases gear tolerance levels to microns to reduce unwanted noise and vibrations for enhanced reeling performance.

Hagane Gear technology contributes to the smooth and precise operation of the internal gears. No cutting operations are applied to the teeth of the drive gear. Instead, the entire surface is calculated in microscopic detail through a special 3D design and then formed by Shimano's patented cold forging technology. The most notable feature of the Propulsion Line Management System technology is the new spool design. Through extensive casting tests and computer simulations, Shimano experts determined that this new spool design offers greater casting distances compared to standard spool designs, while preventing the formation of undesirable backlashes or loops.
