The Shimano Curado K MGL 71 HG is a compact and durable baitcasting reel, built around a Ci4+ aluminum frame. The MGL (Magnumlite) technology on the spool reduces vibrations during casts while providing outstanding control through the SVS Infinity braking system. Shimano’s ball bearings have sealed surfaces offering extra protection against sand, salt, and dirt penetration.

The SVS Infinity brake control allows fine adjustments using the dial located at the bottom of the reel’s body, which is especially useful when fishing with light lures. Consequently, Shimano offers a wider range of brake settings than most other baitcasting reel brakes. The Super Stopper system reliably prevents backlash, ensuring you maintain full control during the fight with the fish.

The variable brake system prevents backlash during casting. Backlash refers to the spool overrunning and line tangles on the spool. Backlash is prevented thanks to the centrifugal forces you can personally control. To do this, simply slide the lever on the bottom plate of the reel forward and move the VBS pins as needed. The more pins you activate (engage), the stronger the braking force.
