The Opinel Nr.08 Outdoor Earth is a pocket knife equipped with a nylon cord for attaching to a backpack or belt. This Opinel Nr.08 Outdoor Earth pocket knife measures 19cm in length and weighs just 60g. Its 8.5cm blade is partially serrated for easy cutting of rope, cord, etc., and is thicker than the classic version. It is made from Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel with high corrosion resistance due to added chromium, and has undergone a special heat treatment resulting in a hardness of 57-58HRC. The blade also features a notch shaped like a special key for opening U-shaped threaded metal buckles (shackles) used in various anchoring/lifting equipment, including in navigation (and more recently on some paracord bracelets).

The ergonomic handle is made of two-tone plastic resistant to moisture and extreme temperatures (between -40 and +80 degrees C), slightly widened at the end for a comfortable grip that prevents slipping during use. At the end of the handle, there is also a built-in whistle for emergency signaling with 110 dB, audible from over 300m away. It is equipped with a Virobloc locking system that locks the blade in both open and closed positions, making it easy and safe to store and carry.
