The GALILEO™ 500 Lantern is a rechargeable flashlight with 5 operating modes, named after the famous Italian astrophysicist Galileo Galilei, produced by Nebo in Grand Prairie, Texas, USA. The main setting of the lantern is cool white light that provides 360° full illumination with a maximum output of 500 lumens from an Arcus COB LED, which is excellent for covering a larger distance area. For a more directional light, there is a 120° setting that shines from the front of the lantern, producing 175 lumens, useful for tasks that don't require close-up lighting. In addition to the white light setting, the lantern also features a red light, which is useful for night vision preservation, night reading, wildlife observation, and helps keep mosquitoes away when you're in a tent, as they are less attracted to red light compared to white light. It has a handy carrying handle that allows the lantern to be hung and transported easily and also includes a carabiner clip for quick attachment to poles or backpacks.

The lantern is operated with the large button on the front and cycles through 360°, 120°, and red light with each press. All settings are adjustable between highest and lowest by simply holding down the button while the lantern is on in any mode, and the brightness will gradually decrease before brightening again. Release the button at the desired brightness for your task. Direct access to the red light is obtained by holding down the button while the light is off, and each press will then cycle settings back if desired. The light always turns on at the highest setting; however, with the memory recall function, the light can be programmed to remember a chosen setting so that when turned on again, it will illuminate at the memorized brightness.

The Galileo 500 uses flex power technology and can be powered by the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is recharged via the included micro USB cable. To charge the battery, locate the charging port on the back of the lantern by lifting the protective cover and insert the micro USB end of the cable. Then connect the USB end to a computer, power source, or wall outlet using a USB adapter. A small charging indicator near the port will turn red while charging and green once fully charged. There is also a "power bank" function, useful for charging your devices when away from home. Simply plug your device’s charging cable into the standard USB-A port (next to the micro USB port) on the lantern to begin charging. A light on the lantern will turn green to indicate the device is charging.
