The INSPECTOR 500+ LED Penlight is a rechargeable "pen-style" flashlight capable of producing 500 lumens on turbo mode but also features a 360° area light, incorporates 4 lighting modes, and is manufactured by Nebo in Grand Prairie, Texas, USA. The turbo setting is designed as a boost mode, allowing 30 seconds at a time to prevent the flashlight from overheating and thereby protect the LED. The "high" setting is a constant 250 lumens that lasts for 3 hours and 30 minutes, with another brightness setting available as well as a strobe mode. The same modes are also accessible as area light instead of flashlight beam, but with slightly reduced modes, and can be accessed by pulling the flashlight head on the knurled section to reveal the 360° area lighting. The area light is located at the end of the flashlight, making it excellent when you need to look into a small space and cover a wider area.

The magnetic tail switch operates the flashlight; a single press from off turns the light on to "high" mode, and a second press within 8 seconds switches it to "low" mode. Direct switching to "low" is also possible by holding the button from off, then you can cycle from "low" to "high," which is great for low-light situations. If the flashlight remains on for more than 8 seconds, the next press will turn it off. Turbo is activated by holding the button while the light is on or off and will last 30 seconds before reverting to the previous mode (unless you exit early with a single press). A quick double-click at any time accesses the strobe, and a single press exits to the last setting. Every time the flashlight changes brightness, it does so gradually, which is easier on the eyes and also helps preserve battery life. The area light operates the same way when the head is extended to reveal the 360° lighting.

This uses flex power technology allowing the flashlight to be powered by the included 10850 lithium-ion rechargeable battery or can also use two AAA alkaline batteries as a backup when the rechargeable battery is dead or when you don't have access to recharge. The included battery charges via the micro USB port located on the flashlight neck, revealed by pulling down the head under the head. The supplied cable connects to the micro USB port and then to a standard USB port or USB adapter. The light next to the port glows red during charging and changes to blue when charging is complete, after about 2 hours.

The long, pen-like design makes it an ideal inspection light, and the sturdy metal pocket clip allows easy carrying attached to a shirt pocket, belt, or backpack. The magnetic base can attach to many metal surfaces for easy hands-free use. With an IPX7 rating, the Inspector 500+ is fully waterproof up to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes.
