The Whisker is a powerful, compact, and lightweight reel featuring the characteristics of a Big Pit reel. Reels with a spool stroke of 45mm have recently become the top choice for carp fishing at long distances. The combination of a large, deep spool with a small, compact body allows the design of lightweight and durable reels with optimal casting performance. The special design of the spool lip is paired with its taper, resulting in minimal line friction during casting, significantly reducing the risk of tangles. To seal the rotor inside the body, the seal is made from a magnetic oil called MagSealed.

MagSealed Technology – Sealing the rotor is a challenge that Daiwa addressed in 2010 and has optimized year after year. To seal the rotor inside the body, a seal made from a magnetic oil called MagSealed is used. This oil is frozen in a magnetic field to prevent water and dust from entering the mechanism.

Zaion® – a special material created by Daiwa engineers, characterized by low weight and increased durability. It is a "High Density" solid carbon material designed for high performance and maximum impact resistance (used for both bodies and rotors). Thanks to Zaion, a lightweight reel body can be built that withstands gear forces. Zaion's strength equals magnesium and is 20% stronger than the nylon/ABS material used by most manufacturers for reel bodies. Zaion is 50% lighter than aluminum.

Tough DigiGear® – a digitally developed high-speed gear designed to handle high drag forces. The pinion integrated into the spool body transmits the handle’s power directly to the rotor smoothly and extremely efficiently. The size of the drive gear, the strength and angle of the gears, as well as the shape and surface of the gear teeth enable the construction of gearboxes with exceptional smoothness, minimal resistance during use, and an extremely long lifespan.
