Simms was founded in 1980 by visionary angler and longtime guide John Simms. After spending decades providing clients with life-changing experiences on some of the world’s most majestic rivers, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time didn’t meet the standards needed to keep top anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to hit the water earlier and stay out longer in any weather.

The Simms BugStopper SunGaiter is a bandana specially designed to provide insect protection on hot days. The bandana is made with the latest Insect Shield® UPF 50 SolarFlex fabric technology, offering lightweight comfort, breathability, and protection from sunburn and insect bites. Additionally, the special fabric stretches in multiple directions. It has no seams that irritate the skin and provides excellent breathability and moisture control.

SolarFlex® fabric offers UPF 50 protection and covers from the tip of the nose down to the shirt collar, with enough height at the back to fit over or under your favorite fishing hat. UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much UV radiation from the sun is blocked. A fabric with a rating of 50 allows only 1/50th of the sun’s UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All UPF finishes by Simms last for the lifetime of the garment.
