Simms was founded in 1980 by visionary angler and longtime guide John Simms. After spending decades providing life-changing experiences to clients on some of the most majestic rivers in the world, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time did not meet the needs to keep top anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get out on the water earlier and stay outside longer in any weather.

Now it's much easier to protect kids from insect bites during fishing trips. The Kid's Bugstopper Hoody features technologies developed specifically for children’s protection. This kids’ hoody is made from polyester knit treated with long-lasting InsectShield® that offers quick-drying performance, moisture wicking, and odor control. It is rated UPF 30 for sun protection, with arms and shoulders designed for comfort and natural movement.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much UV radiation from the sun is blocked. A fabric rated 30 allows only 1/30th of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All UPF finishes by Simms last for the lifetime of the garment.
