The Bugstopper Net Sombrero is a hat that offers sun protection with a UPF 50 rating. UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much UV radiation from the sun is blocked. A fabric with a rating of 50 allows only 1/50th of the sun’s UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All Simms UPF finishes last for the lifetime of the garment.

This hat is also a great accessory for night fishing. The netting, which folds down from the brim of the hat to the neck area, protects the angler from unwanted mosquito invasions. Thanks to the rigid rings (at both the neck base and the brim), the netting does not touch the face, and the lightweight material is comfortable and unobtrusive to wear.
