Simms was founded in 1980 by visionary angler and longtime guide John Simms. After spending decades providing clients with life-changing experiences on some of the world's most majestic rivers, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time did not meet the needs of keeping the best anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create gear worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get on the water earlier and stay out longer in any weather.

When the blazing sun threatens to cut short an afternoon of fishing, the Simms SolarFlex® Hoody is the perfect solution. It offers enhanced comfort on hot days (thanks to UPF50 sun protection), and the COR3 fabric provides extremely lightweight, quick-drying wear, allowing anglers to fish or enjoy outdoor activities even on the hottest summer days. The durable and flexible sleeve construction offers a wide range of motion, enabling casting from any angle. The hoody features a special finish with flatlock seams that create a comfortable feel against the skin.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun’s UV radiation is blocked. A fabric with a rating of 50 allows only 1/50th of the sun’s UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All UPF finishes from Simms last for the lifetime of the garment.
