The Simms company was founded in 1980 by visionary angler and longtime guide John Simms. The Bugstopper Net Sombrero is a hat that offers sun protection with a UPF 50 protective layer. UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much UV radiation from the sun is blocked. A fabric with a rating of 50 allows only 1/50th of the sun’s UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All UPF finishes from Simms last the lifetime of the garment.

This hat is also suitable for night fishing. The mesh that folds down from the brim to the neck area protects the angler from unwanted mosquito invasions. Thanks to the reinforced rings (both at the neck base and the hat brim), the mesh does not touch the face, and the lightweight material is comfortable and non-intrusive to wear. It has no seams that irritate the skin and provides excellent breathability and moisture control.
