Simms was founded in 1980 by a visionary angler and long-time guide John Simms. After spending decades providing customers with life-changing experiences on the most majestic rivers in the world, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time didn't meet the needs to keep top anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get on the water earlier and stay out longer in any weather.

The CX Jacket, part of Simms' portfolio, is a three-layer jacket made from ATY nylon, 6.6 nylon, and spandex with a 30K membrane, meaning waterproofing is a key feature. As a tactical jacket, Simms designed it with four pockets—two horizontal chest pockets and two hand-warming pockets. Other notable features include double cuffs with Velcro closures, water-resistant TRU® Zip  zippers, and an adjustable waterproof hood at the back.
