The Shimano Sephia BB is a reel dedicated to squid fishing. It features a retrieve ratio and speed specifically designed for the optimal presentation of EGI lures. The AR-C spool (shallow type) is suitable for use with braided lines and provides high casting accuracy. This reel can be used for squid fishing as well as other predator fishing styles. It is a lightweight reel with an attractive design. It is also equipped with important technical specifications such as the powerful Hagane Gear drivetrain and the CoreProtect system (which provides enhanced water resistance).

Hagane Gear technology contributes to the smooth and precise operation of the internal gears. Cold forging is a key feature of Shimano’s material processing. The raw material is not mechanically machined but shaped under very high pressure, resulting in perfect cohesion that translates into strength and longevity of the component—in this case, the gear, which is the heart of every reel. The X-SHIP system improves pinion durability while eliminating rotor twisting and flexing. By supporting the pinion shaft on both ends with bearings, it maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears stay perfectly meshed even under heavy loads. CoreProtect prevents water intrusion into the body, from under the rotor to the front of the housing, as well as into the bearing compartment.

G Free Body is an innovative technology that shifts the center of gravity closer to the spool, significantly reducing hand fatigue during fishing. Additionally, the ARC Spool ensures the fishing line comes off in smaller loops while simultaneously delivering longer and more accurate casts, minimizing friction between the line and spool. Rigid Support Drag eliminates spool wobble, resulting in an extremely smooth braking system that offers full control over the fish, even when using thin or braided lines. S-ARB bearings feature shields on both sides to reduce the chances of sand, dust, or saltwater hampering their rotation.
