Silent Tune is a new Shimano technology, where, as with any casting reel, the spool is supported by bearings. These bearings have special seats in the frame or side plates and a certain tolerance to allow easier bearing replacement. While this tolerance is necessary, it allows the bearings to move slightly during casting, causing minor vibrations that dissipate energy from the spool’s core, reducing casting distance and accuracy.

SVS Infinity is one of Shimano’s latest innovations in brake system technology. SVS Infinity provides constant spool control and braking power. It controls spool speed for precise casts, especially when using light lures. The external knob allows quick and precise adjustments for different fishing conditions or lure changes.

The Super Free System is a bearing-supported gearing system designed to eliminate friction between the pinion and spool shaft during casting. On standard baitcasting reels, the pinion can disengage and actually rub against the spool shaft, creating friction that limits casting distance. With SF, the pinion gear is bearing-supported, and when the clutch is disengaged, the pinion and spool shaft remain precisely aligned, resulting in zero friction.
