Savage Gear SGS8 Reel

The SGS8 reel is an excellent example of how Savage Gear specialists designed and perfected these reels "from scratch." The SGS8 features state-of-the-art technology, an aluminum alloy body, and strong, robust, and lightweight carbon reinforced composite (CRC) gears. Following tests, Savage's engineers managed to create a protective coating (SW500) that withstood 500 hours of saltwater spray on the spool and body. The ultra-slow oscillation DLM (Dynamic Line Management) system ensures even line distribution. The braking performance is guaranteed by the Carbon Drag System (FSC-3), consisting of two carbon washers at the ends and a centrally positioned fiberglass washer. Additionally, the spool includes a HIP-clip and is an Aero Lip type, which helps achieve considerable casting distances by reducing friction of the line on its upper lip.

Even under intense use, the manufacturer assures reliability through 8+1 stainless steel ball bearings; the gear chamber is perfectly sealed, making water ingress impossible. Savage Gear also employed BR-S technology (Braid Ready Spool) to create a spool with maximum grip, whether you choose monofilament or braided line. The grooves on the spool provide excellent line grip, preventing slippage and frustration during the fight with large predators. The SGS8 model also features special protection against water and moisture (HS-Drag), which can affect the front braking system.
