The chemical composition consists of 13% Chromium (improves hardness and wear/corrosion resistance, but too much decreases toughness), 0.35% Carbon (improves tensile strength and maintains a sharp edge), 0.6% Nickel (improves hardness), 1% Magnesium (increases hardness and reduces brittleness), 1% Silicon (increases strength), 0.04% Phosphorus (increases strength), and 0.03% Sulfur (improves machinability), resulting in a steel with a Rockwell hardness of 54 HRC.
