The specialized Protector series of anti-snag jigheads was designed using the same principles as the Speed jig series. They use the same reinforced Speed UltraPoint hook model, featuring an O'Shaugnessy bent shank with a crimped groove and a long, straight blade, all additionally coated with the new Mustad BK1 BenchKote polyceramic coating, recently developed. Each hook is strongly flattened laterally along the entire bend for increased strength. Like the Speed jigs, these use a disc locking system. The special anti-gear design allows Protector jigs to be used for perch and pikeperch fishing in areas with numerous obstacles. They can be mounted on most rubber lures sized 5-12 centimeters.
