The specialized Protector series of snag-resistant jigs was created using the same principles as the Speed jig series. They use the same reinforced Speed UltraPoint hook model, with an O'Shaughnessy type bent bend and a long, straight blade, all additionally coated with the new Mustad BK1 BenchKote polyceramic coating, recently developed. Each of these hooks is strongly flattened laterally along the entire bend for increased strength. As with the Speed jigs, a disc locking system is used here. The special anti-attachment design allows Protector jigs to be used for perch and zander fishing in areas with many obstacles. They can be fitted on most rubber lures sized 5-12 centimeters.
