Simms was founded in 1980 by visionary angler and longtime guide John Simms. After spending decades providing clients with life-changing experiences on some of the world’s most majestic rivers, John realized that the waterproof gear available at the time didn’t meet the needs of keeping top anglers dry, comfortable, and safe on the water. So, he set out to create products worthy of a new generation of anglers who, like him, wanted to get on the water earlier and stay out longer in any weather.

The Simms SunGaiter is a bandana made from a special material enhanced with the latest SolarFlex® fabric technology, allowing it to stretch in multiple directions. It has no irritating seams and offers excellent breathability and moisture control. Made from lightweight, quick-drying stretch fabric, it features laser-cut breathing holes. The Solarflex® fabric provides UPF 50 protection and covers from the tip of the nose down to the collar of your shirt, with enough height in the back to fit over or under your favorite fishing hat. Additionally, Coolcore® technology can lower surface temperature by up to 30% when damp.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much UV radiation from the sun is absorbed. A fabric with a 50 rating will allow only 1/50th of the sun’s UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric significantly reduces skin exposure to UV radiation. All Simms UPF finishes last the lifetime of the garment.
